Although their fur comes in various colors, their striking feature is their beautiful blue eyes. Ojos Azules are very playful and get along well with other animals. They are loyal and affectionate, making them suitable for families with young children.

Origin of the Ojos Azules Cat Breed

In 1984, scientists discovered several new cat breeds in Mexico, one of which had deep blue eyes. They rescued a cat with brown patches and named it “Hoa Bong Ngo” (which means “cornflower” in Vietnamese). TICA (The International Cat Association) recognized the Ojos Azules breed in 1991, but some breeders continue to work with it today. The TICA New Breed Program allows for the registration and development of cats, with the TICA Genetics Committee overseeing it and producing annual reports on the breed’s health and overall development. However, no other registration body has recognized this breed, and Ojos Azules cats are still very rare, with only ten known individuals in 1992. The TICA breed standard was updated in January 2009.

How to Care for Ojos Azules Cats

These cats are relatively easy to care for in the world of pets. They don’t require excessive amounts of food due to their body size. Ojos Azules cats can eat various human foods, but ensuring their diet is balanced and nutritious is essential. Supplements like calcium, fiber, and protein can be added to enhance their health and immunity, contributing to their optimal development. Their small and adorable size makes them highly suitable for apartment living, as they make excellent companions.

Ojos Azules Cat price

The price of an Ojos Azules cat can vary widely depending on several factors, including the cat’s age, pedigree, breeder reputation, location, and whether the cat is being sold as a pet or for breeding purposes. Generally, Ojos Azules cats are considered a rare and less common breed, which can contribute to their higher cost compared to more common cat breeds.

Ojos Azules cats were not as well-known or readily available as some other breeds, and their prices could range from a few hundred to a couple of thousand dollars. However, it’s essential to note that prices for specific cat breeds can change over time due to breeding demand and availability.

Suppose you’re interested in acquiring an Ojos Azules cat. In that case, I recommend doing thorough research to find a reputable breeder who adheres to ethical breeding practices and prioritizes the health and well-being of their cats. Remember that acquiring a cat is a long-term commitment, and costs extend beyond the initial purchase price to include ongoing expenses like food, veterinary care, grooming, and more.
